Fake N It

Well, I guess it's happening. I'm starting a blog! Let me preface this entire journey by saying I am NOT a writer. I am an optometry student slash triathlete slash I used to do musical theater. My brain is wired for math, physics and the occasional a cappella harmony. But after a recent incident which involved me *almost* getting signed on with a triathlon sponsor as an amateur athlete (sponsor shall remain nameless) and then getting denied, my coach insisted it had nothing to do with my talents. I just needed to "gain more media exposure, start a blog or something." So, if you're looking for a great read in between your perusing of the New York Times while sipping your morning latte, do yourself a favor and put that latte down and get yourself a real drink, son. Just kidding, I love lattes! But seriously, this blog may not be for you. I will be talking about all things triathlon from my training to my race reports. I may even give you updates on how optometry school is currently running my life. But I am not in the business of eloquent speech, using appropriate grammar OR making any sense at all. I will PRETEND to be a writer for the purpose of this blog because as my favorite saying goes, 'fake it 'til you make it.' So buckle up, enjoy the ride and please keep hands and feet on the bicycle at all times!

I guess I'll start this blog off with a standard profile for all you treeks out there (that's slang for tri-geeks...give it some time) :

Let's get personal:

Proudest Moment as a triathlete: Competing in the 2013 Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Henderson, NV (bragging rights earned)

Proudest Moment as a bystander: Standing behind the finish line at IM Lake Placid and watching my sister break through the tape as the female champion. All of the feelings.

Favorite song to ride an interval to: All About that Bass - Meghan Trainor (Don't judge me)

Favorite Swim stroke: Fly (Somehow this is also my least favorite)

Favorite Running shoes: Zoot Ultra Kalani 3.0

Aspirations for this year: Break 5 hours in the 70.3 distance (I'm currently 7 minutes away...) But don't worry, I know exactly how I'll get there...

Well, there it is! My first blog. Short and sweet. I'm going to try to make it a habit to end my blogs with something positive, either an inspirational quote or maybe a piece of advice. Because let's face it, the world can sometimes get ya down, and to be honest, "ain't nobody got time fo' that" - Sweet Brown

Today's positive thingy: If you're a triathlete or any other athlete and you're having a bad race, day or training session, just remember: At least you didn't run 10 out of the 13.1 miles of the Eagleman 70.3 Triathlon with duct tape stuck to your forehead...
Cuz' I did.

That's all for now folks! Thanks for reading, hope to see you again!

:)
